My wife and I both took tests the Friday of Valentines Day weekend. Her, the EPPP and me, the Photoshop CS5 ACE exam. The next day a conference, not far from the testing location, was going on where I was going to be presenting. So, we thought it would be a good idea to celebrate by staying in south KC and making a date out of it. My exam was the shorter one, so, as a surprise to my Bride I had all 220 'goofy' photos we had taken of ourselves printed off and I taped them all to the wall! I realize that this might seem insane, or freaky, but I assure... I'm not crazy. :) It was a great surprise and we had a blast going through them all, 'where was this one!?' 'ohhh yeah!' 'remember when' etc. etc. etc. We are a couple that love each other, love life, and love to laugh. It was awesome!

So today I went on a short photo walk around work and about 200 yards in, I looked over my shoulder and got this idea for a composition! It was tuff picking just one photo for today. I'm uploading the rest of the runner up's to my Facebook page.

Empty Swing is a photo I like because of the different elements included. Foreground and background to create depth. Framing around the seat... the water creates a frame and even outside of that is a frame with the tree / hills / outdoor fire pit.  The color separation draws focus onto the swing as well. Green/teal vs's the overall warm golden color. Couple elements I wish were different, the bright white snow. The placement of the fire pit (this was someone else house on a walk). Overall, I like the final.

There are MANY benefits to being a Hound. Hard to put one above those sad puppy eyes that make the heart melt. Especially when the dog is sitting on your Wacom tablet saying, "Why haven't you played with me today?"

Shot with a 50mm f/1.4 on my 5D Mark II. No flash, just the overhead light. Probably five minutes in cameraRaw and poof... here it is.

I'd like to revisit this spot and get some more photos under different circumstances. Sunrise (as it faces the East) and maybe one with a real dense fog. But for now... with the sun almost at high noon, this is what I came up with. It is an HDR merge of three photos with a tad retouching in photoshop. f/13, 1/250th, ISO200 16-35mm

Played a bit with some off camera flash. This shot has two speed lights hitting it, one with a few blue filters stacked on it (left flash). You can notice it a bit in the specular highlights.

Bride getting ready for the big day. For the 365 project there are no rules... strict would be take a picture every day and post it. But what about 'post' work? I spend a lot of time retouching photos. So today, for the 365 Project I am going to post a photo I took a couple months ago, but am revisiting it in post production work today.
